It’s not really a shock that this was the plan. When people started masking up at protests in 2020, it sent the establishment into a frenzy trying to find a way to counter it. Now they have it, and they’re going to use that tech to punish anyone who so much as posts an opinion they don’t like online. It’ll start here, with anyone even remotely critical of Is*el getting the dogs sent after them.
Pretty much, the AI thing is just fluff to market their products to repressive regimes like the gulf states. What’s AI going to do aside from search key terms, a technology that’s existed since the days the CIA had oracle create databases.
I think AI can do a bit better than that by ‘understanding’ context and networks of people
Sure, but its capabilities are also hyped up. What they are trying to do is blame a system and not lay the responsibility on people. And sell spy software to the world’s monsters.
