Whats interesting is that both income , profits and the stock have been growing well for years, maybe they are just monetizing more aggressively because they can’t compete on product quality (unlike other markets that are still evolving, AI and Cloud). not a ton of stuff to improve in operation systems it seems.

Aren’t there better coins with better privacy (which might be a helpful property , because being known as a generous person might make you a attractive target to charity scams attempts) and also much lower fees (monero? nano? , which reportedly has no fees) and faster transactions times? (if we are using digital currencies, we might as well try to support the best project by using it).

Some of them are paid , they get donation money , and also from the NLNET iirc (which is tax payer money iirc).

Anyway this isn’t how you handle feedback , there is a reason wikipedia has a guideline called assume good faith , because if you are not assuming good faith you are probably assuming bad faith and that makes it difficult for an organisation to function for obvious reasons.

Yeah that’s pretty much the point, but it’s a real world method to get work done , see the bounties here, it might be especially important if the developers make a mistake when prioritizing (which is expected because they are humans, if there are bugs in code there are bugs in priorities).

They say the developers told them not to used bounties, but i specifically remember one of the developers saying he will accept code requests made with bounties , although he did mentioned he thought they are not worth it and have disadvantages (which i disagree with it).

Also one of the problem he linked to is now resolved.

I hope they are not serious about this moralizing , unity is making 1.8B but losing almost a billion a year, either they cut back on expenses or they somehow increase income, i think they might not want to cut back on expenses because they are feeling the heat of open source game engines like gadot or even gdevelop (and that will lead to a inferior product ). I think the same thing is happening with RISC-V and ARM.

Hopefully there is enough of real financial support for godot and other open source gaming software and not just feel good talk. godot fund almost doubled in funding but that is not close to 1B dollar (but maybe companies are allocating full time developers).
