lemmy.ml has earned itself a pretty bad reputation, although there are instances that are worse. They keep things clean enough to not get defederated, but you’re not really in sane company on there.

The Trump transition team is reportedly considering investigating U.S. military leaders involved in the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal
You’re not crazy, I don’t see a boot partition either. So, that makes sense that it cannot boot. I think the simplest path forward will be to try installing another distro, and disconnect all hard drives besides the one you want to install to, if there are multiple drives in the machine.
I definitely agree with that!
Your Democrat quote is not completely accurate.
We love immigrants.
Kamala Harris and many Democrats ran their 2024 campaigns with adopted Republican policies of shutting down the border, blaming immigrants for crime, and taking a hard stance on immigration.
We love trans people, too.
The Democrats, as a party, have been talking out of both sides of their mouth on trans issues. There is no consistent message, some Democrats campaigned on “keeping boys out of girls sports”, a stance that literally denies the existence of trans people.
Why isn’t it Hank?
Aw, that’s disappointing. I’m a little surprised, but it still a DIY hobbyist niche and must just highly depend on your area. I’d leave your nodes up and see if anyone joins at some point in the future. Also double check the settings to maks sure you’re on the public LongFast channel?
EDIT: even with all the nodes that I connect to, there is almost no chatter happening on the public LongFast channel. People are quiet 🤷
Here are my 2 heltec v3s, one stays at home and the other is for on the go.
I think you probably have much more radio experience and knowledge than I have, then. I just bought a highly rated 915mhz antenna on amazon with an SMA adapter, it looks like and is the same size as what you’d screw into a wifi router or wifi adapter, with a 90 degree bending joint, but obviously for 915mhz band instead of 2.4ghz/5ghz wifi. I have heard that bending the 90 degree joint on these antennas will reduce performance, so I keep it straight while transmitting and it fits better with the device in my pocket while bent. I have a custom case that fits a heltec v3, a 3000mah battery, and mounts the antenna SMA adapter to the case (case also found on amazon)
There’s way way more nodes around me IRL and I see new nodes every day. Join us! Make sure you buy a good antenna, the ones that come with heltec v3 are only useful for receiving but are no good for transmitting unless to another device that’s basically touching it.
I don’t know why you’re being voted down… dude gave his health and years to substance abuse
It is important for us to remember the name “Steven Cheung” and the names of all those who enable and defend this kind of violent rhetoric in an official capacity. Politically motivated violence is the definition of “terrorism”.
A rational and moral person would resign instead of write this statement. These people are dangerous, and they won’t just vanish if Trump loses on election day.
Here’s his picture, from Wikipedia:
Would those who down-vote like to explain their interpretation of:
I have this piece of glass here, but all we have really over here is the fake news, right? And, to get me, somebody would have to shoot through the fake news. And I don’t mind that so much, ’cause I don’t mind. I don’t mind that
Here is his campaign communications director’s official statement on this, if you need some inspiration
He is signaling, quite directly and openly, to his supporters that he would be okay with journalists that he doesn’t like being murdered. He was remarking about how he was covered by bulletproof glass from all angles, except from the press section.
EDIT try this first:
Wait, are you still getting an “Operating system not found” like error or just a totally black screen? If totally black screen, maybe it is just the graphical environment that isn’t working? When you get to the black screen, give it a minute or so, then hold alt (or ctrl+alt at the same time, try it both ways) while tapping F1-F12 keys one by one and see if you get a TTY login prompt? You may also have to hold an Fn button on the keyboard to change the F1-F12 keys from media-mode to function-mode depending on your BIOS settings. If you do get the prompt, login with your user (nothing will change on screen while you type the password, which can be confusing if you are expecting to see asterisks or something, apologies if you know this but I don’t know what Linux experience you have) and then try the commands xinit
or startx
and you will likely get the opportunity to see an error that is occurring?
EDIT, the following was assuming “Operating system not found” like error:
Hmm… this is weird. I would say try changing the boot mode between UEFI vs legacy BIOS, but I see that you already have…
If possible, can you boot to live Linux USB and use the fdisk/gparted tool to inspect the partitions? If you can post a pic/screenshot of the partition info that might give us some more info.
What steps did you take to manually parition? Is the boot partition formatted with an EXT4 file system?
Updating your BIOS is probably going to be a pain without a Windows system to do it from, because you are at the mercy of laptop manufacturers here, unless it supports updating from a USB
If you are considering a totally different OS (I think this is worth a shot, at least for sanity), I’d recommend trying a Fedora 41 install. EDIT: It looks like Nobara is a better candidate to try instead of plain Fedora, because it comes with proprietary NVIDIA driver, which may help your issue if it is a problem in the graphical environment.
Are you able to try selecting the disk to boot from using the BIOS/UEFi menu, instead of relying on the boot order? I’d try that and see if one of the options boots into Pop!_OS, then make sure that option is first in order (or 2nd behind booting to USB)
We have outer space pretty well mapped
An estimate from before this satellite broke up was that 97% of space debris is not tracked and that there are 131 million pieces of untracked debris in space.
Now that said, I think your point is valid because most of this untracked debris is much smaller than a satellite
Wow sounds like great news for Russia and a huge win for them then, I’m sure their internet trolls are supporting this decision instead of crying about it all over the internet, right??
Same! Typing this on a cheap as dirt android 😁
It’s not even subtle. Just controlled opposition
