I still (have to) download scetchy executables on Windows when I want to install most programms, while on debian I can install most programs via apt and a few repositories. Even when it’s not a standard repo I still prefer it over random executables because while the security is just as bad at least I get updates without having to open the program itself.

But what resonated with me most have been the restarts for updates. Happened way to often that I wanted to stop working but cant just shut down windows without updates and the accompanying reboots. (If I don’t check up in between to decrypt the disk on startups it’ll just sit there and run out the battery and I have to do the restarts on the next workday). On debian I just klick the power button, it hibernates (or I shut it down if I’m in the mood) and os updates are completely seperate from that.

Besides missing dependencies or repositories for more nice software this kinda closely matches my experience though.

(Ignoring winget, becaust it is not really the mainstream way to install windows software)

What is your specific issue with this?

I mean I’ve never seen illegal content so far, which I guess is my main concern. I know a bit back lemmy had a problem which led to my old instance just purging all images from a certain time frame / instance and temporarily defederating the affected instance until they removed it from their side. I am also sure that other mainstream platforms I’ve been on have/had problems but I never just stumbled on it and had to see it.

Hast du ne Quelle dazu, weil das würd diesem Artikel aus den Kommentaren hier wiedersprechen. Laut dem Sind die Spender*in des großteils des Betrags “Lotte Salingré und Thomas Stanger”.

Ich muss sagen, dass ich den Spender nachvollziehen kann. Auch wenn ich in der Aktuellen Situation in der Welt nichts von bedinungslosem Pazifismus halte, kann ich es respektierne, wenn das für einige Leute eine sehr wichtige Grundlage ihrer Wahl/Unterstützungsentscheidung ist. Und der Artikel ließt sich ja so, als ob das der Grund für die Spende ist. Hatte honestly schlimmeres erwartet (Schwurblerkram, Russlandkram, Nazikram, …).

Es ist natürlich trotzdem nicht ok, dass Einzelpersonen einen so unverhältnissmäßigen Einfluss auf die Politik haben.

Wo hast du das mit dem Kryptounternehmer her? In dem Zdf-Artikel steht nur was von Veranstaltungstechnik.

Wie in dem link in einem anderen Kommentar hier erläutert wird, kommt das Geld erwiesenermaßen nicht aus Russland:

Das Paar wirkt glaubwürdig und es wäre auch sehr dumm, wenn hier mit der größten Parteispende der jüngeren Geschichte russische Gelder weitergeleitet würden.
