I very purposefully avoid you people, I left reddit. But you people followed us to lemmy. You people don’t stay in your containment of .world. you people constantly fucking bitch and moan about the left and call everyone to the left of ‘burning literal fucking children alive’ a tankie.

Then you fucks call everyone that corrects you when you do venture out of containment a troll.

Honestly it’s pathetic. You people currently own and control reddit. That’s your ideology and your people there. You won there. You banned every left wing person from that site during your enshittification campaign. Why fuck with us here.

Never said I was a troll, I said I piss off crybaby right wingers like yourself.

There’s a pretty big difference, reality tends to piss you people off, like the reality that the vast majority of people that voted for Trump aren’t bigots, they just don’t believe Dems after decades of the dem party destroying their life and lying to them.

  • It’s mostly legacy at this point, it used to be the easiest way to get top of the line graphics while being performant. There was a time when every new console game used unreal and had the same plastic toy soldier look to it, because thats just how the unreal engine rendered things at the time. But it was incredibly easy to use and most devs had some experience with modding unreal tournament in some way at the time.

So it established itself in the industry, and large publishers made deals with epic, and devs had to learn it in school when game dev started getting taught in school, and so on. If you wanted to work in AAA game dev from 2005-2015 you learned how to use the unreal engine.

But epic got lazy, and devs kept using the engine as a hammer even in games where it just didn’t make sense, so now we’re here. Unreal is fantastic for stage based or single map multiplayer fps games that you want to look the best contemporary technology can look. It can be forced to do anything like any engine can, of course, but it’s hard. However epic still wants money and sells it to all sorts of publishers and dev teams.

The easiest, simplest way I can describe it is .world is 2024 reddit, but if they didn’t have corporate sponsors to blame for their actions.

Every decision they make from moderation to the type of communities they defederate with aligns with the most milquetoast US neoliberal viewpoint and sensibility. If that works for you, that’s great until you find the edges of your walled sandbox. But most of us were perma site banned from reddit for being too left wing or otherwise offending the sensibilities of people that believe the US is the peak of humanity that just needs people to vote harder to solve all the problems of the world.
