As long as you can get away with it.
I feel so bad for the teachers. This is just yet another thing they have to comply with to keep their jobs.
invaded by hordes of tribes at the same time.
Too much treachery. Maybe if they stopped assassinating their rulers and managed their funds better by continuing to properly fund their military and continuing to pay off the tribes they could’ve lasted a bit longer.
It’s so wild that they survived the Year of the 4 (and 5 and 6) Emperors when you think about it. The entire empire nearly collapses in the third century and what do they do to the man responsible for restoring it? They assassinate him. Or if it’s not the emperor then it’s the head of the military who had been responsible for holding off multiple tribes, negotiating with them and attempting to keep the city of Rome from being ransacked (unsuccessfully). And then you assassinate the emperor responsible and then the new emperor decides to provoke the biggest tribe of them all.
Well, well, well if it isn’t the consequences of my own actions.
Just be skeptical about it from both perspectives.
Bad actors do exist but they’re not to blame for everything despite almost any organization or movement these days attempting to scapegoat any poor publicity they experience as bad actors.
Unfortunately this is possible.
I think it’s for the better that companies are having these blunders though. It’ll generate some amount of pushback and keep AI from taking over workplaces.
Why is Lemmy like this? This is half of what I see whenever I see people criticizing Joey B on here.
Why can’t people dislike and vote against Trump while also wanting to hold Biden accountable for his words/actions?
I see such a large majority of people who vote Dem/have blue/left values on here and I seriously doubt posts like these are going to change their minds. People just want to vent their frustrations with what many consider the only option they have.
I see. I simply ask because the platform has changed a lot if you used it a little over a decade ago and I know some people who never got over the transition.
Absolutely understandable that you don’t want to spend time looking for anything that might catch your interest though.
Its literally the lowest form of entertainment and its not worth a single moment of ad watching.
I’m just curious, but what type of content would you be watching on YouTube?
I think the platform has come a long ways when it comes to content. Sure, if you’re just watching gaming content I’d say you’d be disappointed. It’s been like that for a decade now at least. There’s a lot of decent content on there though with a lot of it even being somewhat educational.
He supports a ceasefire only if his Israeli overlords accept it. He won’t attempt to use any leverage such as our munitions supply to Israel to attempt to force it though.
Still far better than the orange man who would outright assist Israel with exterminating Palestine.
He’s surprisingly right, even if he is part of the problem.
The current political climate in this country can’t last into the long-term future. I dislike the idea of conflict but many of the current right’s ideals simply cannot coexist with those outside of their cult. The right has also been more aggressive about dismantling the country in several areas as a means of takeover. They really do see this as a battle or a war.
If this was law, and companies had to divulge how there stuff worked and was assembled, as well as sell parts, things would last longer.
I’m all for it but I think you’re being a bit too optimistic. If we had the right to repair then the prices of repair kits and materials is going to go up most likely. I can think of a few other ways they can make that system obnoxious too.
It’s like everything else. Yeah, the general systems in place could be greatly improved but ultimately the majority of the issues lie with the people at the top who refuse to let us have good things. No matter what laws are passed they will find a way to profit at any cost. The shareholders behind massive corporations are the first priority because no solution we create will work as efficiently as it can unless they are out of the picture.
They could have potentially run DeSantis, he just lacked the party’s backing. While he’s basically a younger, less orangey Trump for the most part, the fact that he’s a lot younger would have probably won a lot of people over. It wouldn’t change the GOP from being the MAGA party or change their current values or the general situation with the election though.
We should be grateful that Trump is rather incompetent. He’s torn up the GOP as he can’t allow anyone to overtake him in the hierarchy he’s created. His own ego ensures that any competent ideas that could push his agenda forward are thrown out.
Are you suggesting the British abolitionist ideas influenced the Founders towards abolitionism?
Absolutely. Although we parted ways with the British you can’t deny the roots from where we originated. Especially when you look at the founders who were of the first generation during the severed connection.
Of course, as we carved out more of an identity for ourselves some of those roots and beliefs seem to have diminished.
It wasn’t just the cotton gin though.
I don’t think the founding fathers realized the sheer agricultural potential of the country, especially if you compare the size of the country’s territory to that of what it would be by the Civil War.
Then there’s their backgrounds from the British, where an abolitionist movement had already existed for quite some time and the fact that the British were already industrializing and needed slavery even less. Great Britain was fairly liberal in general, so I’m sure that had a lot of influence on the founding father’s viewpoints. For context, during the Final Act of the Congress of Vienna in 1815 Castlereagh the main British representative managed to sneak in a handful of statements on slavery, suggesting the other powers should eventually end the practice. This was more so to impress the British people due to the current on-goings of British politics, but it’s still only 30ish years after American Independence.
You mean hope that they too don’t become subject to enshittification? I don’t have a lot of faith in that.
Besides that, Google is controlling as fuck. They might keep fucking themselves over but there’s no way they won’t start attempting to ruin things for the rest of us.
It’s not. We’ve had third parties before, and we do still occasionally have independents take seats in congress(we have 3 currently)
They’ll never be even close to majority though, and they will never take the presidency.
Can we not act like this?
If someone is misinformed then you educate and correct them, not mock them. Especially when the person in question is clearly open minded and willing to learn.
Just want to point this out, but Palestinians are technically Semites.
I’m against both obviously, but I thought it was important to point out that the Jewish people themselves are antisemitic for their genocide.
As someone who doesn’t like giving Biden free passes just because he’s not Trump, I feel like I haven’t seen anyone mentioning the time limit set for responses during the debate. It clearly was not in his favor. Trump can talk your ear off about any nonsense he can dream of at a moments notice.
Biden has always had to take time to think. Look at his speeches, look at the times he responds to reporters. There’s always pauses and gaps between responses where he has to think.
