It’s not only a problem when democrats do it. It’s a problem when democrats begin doing it as well.

Look man, I’m not from your country, but it’s clear this is the same thing that’s been happening now all throughout Europe. Where there are usually more than two choices, so we can’t even claim lack of choice as the reason. Let me try to explain.

Old parties have been around the block so many times, everyone knows how morally corrupt they are. “Lesser of two evils” is not something younger voters want to go for. They want a party that represents them, and none of the old ones want to represent them. They just want the power, but not to speak the will of the voters. And while some are obviously bad choices (like your Republicans), the leftist voters are especially mad at those parties that have been masquerading as socialist or left-leaning. Because they promised and didn’t deliver. Just like your Democrats.

So now all throughout Europe there are newly established far-right parties getting a bunch of votes, on the basis of “nobody else is keeping their word, or representing me as a voter, so I might as well try these new guys”. Trump won his first election on that platform, and he’ll win the second election on the same grounds.

But this isn’t a problem with the voters. For example, Germany now has this exact situation. Who do you think most voted for the new far-right party? The eastern part of Germany. The poorest part, with the fewest job opportunities, with the lowest incomes, the highest frequence in homelessness, the least educated etc. And who’s to fucking blame for an entire class of people being disenfranchised over several decades? The voters?

Nah, man. The only ones who made this bed are the parties who created today’s environment. Usually we sleep in it, but every now and then people get tired of getting fucked, and they force a change, even if it may be a bad one. And sometimes, that is enough - the knowledge that even if you lose, at least the people who have been actively hurting you also don’t get to win. They lose as well, they sleep in the same bed as you for a change. At least this one fucking time.

I won’t deny that it’s a destructive mentality and that it may lead to long-term negative effects that are hard to undo. But this has moved past a reasonable situation for some. Desperation kicks in, and the need for revenge is strong. When you work 2-3 jobs to feed your kids, when you can’t sleep at night because you don’t know if tomorrow you’re gonna be evicted while you’re at work, when you can’t afford basic necessities… Fuck it, man. You get it. Sometimes you just desperately want things to change and you don’t care if the world burns in the process, because your world has been burning for god knows how many years, and nobody seemed to care so far. And at that point, you’re especially pissed at those who pretended they cared.

  • My city’s taxi system was completely changed by Uber, as were many parts of the country. So while it might not be true anymore, and taxi drivers with bad attitudes and those fudging the meter might have been mostly weeded out, it’s because of Uber that this happened. And it’s because of their unions that it hadn’t happened before. But the moment there started being some competition in town as opposed to their previous monopoly on the market, they had to back down if they wanted to even survive, let alone come out on top over Uber.

So while yes, uber employees are being fucked over, that has less of an impact on things than you imply. I’ll still get an Uber/Bolt instead of a taxi 9/10 times, because immoral business practices are still better than immoral & illegal practices backed by a monopoly that you are powerless to change.

  • You’re out of your mind if you think the regular guy off the street should:

    1. Know the difference between IMAP and POP3

    2. Know the inner workings of iMessage

If Apple requires proof of understanding to sell their tech, they should submit users to a test. Otherwise, their tech should work how the users expect it to. And deleting messages when I press the damn “delete” button is how any sane person expects things to work. Now, if Apple wants to make a copy and store it in their asshole, and I have to penetrate them anally to delete it as well? That’s fucking debatable in court if it’s a reasonable expectation for a user to have.

  • I think there is quite an easy solution to the housing issue we’re facing: exponential tax increase per property.

There is no reason for someone to own more than one property in a city. No reason at all. But even if you could find one - let’s say the first 2-3 properties (defined as houses/apartments of less than X area each) have regular taxes. But then? Then it gets retarded. 500k more per year for the fourth one. 4 mil extra a year for the fifth. 50 mil extra for the sixth. One billion for the seventh. You’re a property developer? You have until 2 years after the property was finisbed to make sure someone has bought every little bit of it, otherwise that 40 apartment building will end up costing you twice the foreign debt.

Can’t pay the taxes? You can always sell the place, at a fair market value. Let’s say your two uncles died in a short timespan and they both left you their houses, but you had some property already and now you’re up to 5 residential properties but you’re not prepared to pay the extra few million. You can always list their houses. Every month they are listed and don’t get bought, you reduce the price by 5%. Overvaluing the property gets it confiscated - you surrender your property to the state, which then distributes it to those in need in a lottery. You can also opt to just give away some of your less desirable properties directly instead of trying to sell them.

But no, that’d be sudden death for all the retards who keep building, all the fuck heads who keep buying and holding, and all the politicians whose pockets get padded for listening to whichever lobby.

  • I might not be ready to lose my car but I sure as hell am ready to lose

Whatever it is you’re ready to lose, there are people out there who aren’t ready to lose it.

    coal based electricity

Fuck right off, there are entire countries who would be completely at a loss without coal-based electricity. Countries which would rather you lose your car.

    the military complex

Everyone working in the military complex would rather you lose your car than they lose their jobs. It’s you and your car vs millions of people all over the world specifically trained to identify threats to their security, find them and shoot/cut/drone/nuke them. Good luck.

    single use plastic

I mean you wanna fight all the corpos involved with single used plastics, I’m sure having your car will keep you from being suffocated with a plastic bag for like 2 hours.

You’re unwilling to allow for changes in your personal lifestyle to globally change things for the better, so why the fuck would anyone else? Just nuke the planet from orbit at this point, we’re all egotistical shitheads and there’s no way to convince Jimmy McFuckface to give up his 1994 truck, we’re done here.

  • That’s just silly. I DM for a group made out of two of my employees and two other people in different teams. It’s only brought us together more, now we do stuff for each other’s birthdays and have our own inside jokes and shit, there’s only been positive outcomes.
