I don’t understand why no company wants to get back in the CRT business; they would make an absolute killing off the retro gaming market (and nerds like me). I, for one, would love a modern widescreen 4K 240Hz Trinitron CRT with an analog RGB input and HDMI 2.2. Every game from past to present would look amazing on such a TV. Just don’t fuck it up and introduce input lag like early HD CRTs did.

Same goes for cassette decks. Modern cassette players all use the same crappy Chinese design for the mechanism. Mono audio and no Dolby noise reduction. Yuck. Somebody needs to make a modern design that was as good as 80s and 90s cassette players were.

  • My first car was a 1986 Toyota 4Runner that I bought for $1200. It had 4WD, manual transmission and a removable top, effectively converting it from an SUV to a pickup truck with a back seat. It was an absolute blast romping through the desert with the top missing and my cousins in the back.

My biggest regret was selling it when I was 18 so I could buy a Mitsubishi Lancer because of the Fast and Furious films. Biggest mistake ever. It wasn’t even an Evo. Ended up crashing it a few years later. Now I drive a 350Z Roadster. Those stupid movies permanently changed my taste in cars (at least it’s a convertible).

Someday I will again own an SUV with a removable top. But they’re not exactly common. Broncos are too expensive and I don’t want a Jeep. Maybe in 10-20 years…

  • Cooler designs vary and some GPUs may have a mild overclock. So if you wanted a vapor chamber or liquid cooling for your GPU, then it might be worth it to spend extra. Or if you wanted RGB/no RGB. Or maybe you want a white GPU to match your white motherboard.

Dont know if this is still a thing, but the Strix series of cards have/had hand picked chips that are/were guaranteed to overclock better than the average GPU of the same type. But Asus has done a lot of fucked up shit in recent years so I’d advise avoiding that brand.

Honestly, though. It doesn’t really matter what GPU you get. They all generally can reach the same clock speeds, regardless of whether or not they have a factory OC. Furthermore, it’s not 2010s AMD anymore; even on the cheapest cards, the coolers are designed to adequately cool the GPU.

    Personally I just buy whatever’s affordable/available.

Hell yeah. When I was a kid my mom would make a similar dish with tuna and peas plus chopped tomatoes and onions added as well. Cover it with a layer of shredded cheese and bake in in the oven. Tuna casserole, she called it.

I haven’t had this in awhile… I gotta make it again soon.

Have you tried Goodles yet? Tastes just like Kraft but it’s loaded with vitamins and minerals. Go easy on the butter and cheese, and the casserole ends up being reasonably healthy (for Mac and Cheese). Still a lot of calories, though. I stopped buying Kraft entirely.
