  • Thank you! That’s pretty neat. I tried 27% of 65

    I added two 10% increments (6.5+6.5)… but instead of adding 0.65 (1%) seven more times, I added a 5% increment (6.5/2 = 3.25) and then 2 increments of 1%

    So 6.5+6.5+3.25+0.65+0.65 = 17.55

I still had to use a calculator to add those weird numbers (and also check my work), but it does seem really practical for easier numbers. I usually need percentages for pricing (i.e. discounts/tipping), and the percentages are normally in increments of 5%, so that’s pretty useful for figuring out a 15% or 75% of something real quick… or at least get me really close (when talking about something like $X.99)

Regardless, I appreciate the head trick!

Edit: I guess I could’ve done 30% and then subtracted 1% twice; but it’s the same issue (of adding weird numbers) with the same outcome anyway. So thanks again!

  • I prefer it colder when I sleep, but am usually comfortable up until about 72°F (22°C) during the day. But I live in the Southeastern US, so hot (and humid) is something you adapt to.

Outside, it’s currently 93°F (~34°C), humidity of 55% and the “feels like temp” is 105°F (40.6°C). We’re under a heat advisory until 19:00, which is common in the summer

Unfortunately… the new place I’m renting has an A/C that can’t keep up. Sometimes, it’ll reach 79°F (26°C) with the A/C just running up my electric bill non-stop. It’s somehow bearable though, and doesn’t feel as hot as I would expect, so that’s good. Blackout curtains, some fans, and a portable A/C in one room if you need to cool back down (like after a shower); it’s manageable/comfortable enough, until we can find something else.

It’s not my preference, but I guess being acclimated to the heat down here at least helps a bit. Can’t wait to move somewhere a little more arid, maybe with a true 4 seasons kind of weather

  • Even bad press is still press? I don’t have an opinion on Stonehenge yet; I’m pretty sure the art they “defaced” was only the protective casing; and I haven’t researched them enough to form a true opinion of my own

But now I’m curious as to whether (or not) “I think” their motives are “ignorant” or somehow “nefarious” at times. I’ve seen them in the news for a while now, and I haven’t always agreed with their course of action… sometimes I believe it to be too impulsive. But they’re still doing it. They’ve forced a discussion that keeps the issue in the forefront, and now it has me wanting to look-into their situation more. And I do believe-in what they’re advocating, even if I’m not sure it’s the “correct” way to do it

Yet here we are, talking about it. “There’s no such thing as ‘Bad Press’”, I guess? Are they right?.. maybe. Are they detracting from the plight?.. also, maybe. Am I sure of my opinion of their protests?.. no, not really. Seems like something I’ll have to read more about.

So maybe, mission accomplished (in-progress)? Idk, but I see the merit regardless of their actions
