China doesn’t call themselves “the leader of the free world” or “a shining city on a hill”. Sure, freedom of speech is generally better in the US than China (but don’t think that nobody ever gets put in jail for criticizing the government.) The fact remains that the US kills a lot of people.

I’m not Chinese. I can’t affect Chinese policy at all. I focus on the US because my voice is supposed to matter here, allegedly.

The interesting thing about the furor over trans people existing is that 90% of any harm, real or imagined, stems from mistreatment of people. Conservatives treat trans people badly (supposedly) due to mental issues that are caused by the way conservatives treat trans people.

There absolutely are people who have a fursona or participate in the fandom in completely SFW ways. A fursona tells you exactly nothing about their sexual preferences. Honestly you sound exactly like homophobes insisting that two boys holding hands is obscene. Just because you equate a fursona with sex doesn’t mean that every furry thinks the same way.

This theory implies that conservatives think at some point, so I’m not sure.

I get where you’re coming from, but the reason I disagree is because you’re assuming these people are acting in good faith. Why do they need a title?

Queer folk have always used symbols to distinguish ourselves and find others. We’re ~10% of the population and it’s necessary. Straight people do not commonly do so, and 100% of the people who feel the need to wear it like a badge are actually signaling their refusal to let the rest of us exist.

I, for one, would feel perfectly comfortable in an MMO with 90% straight people. (This is just called existing in public.) I would leave immediately if 90% of people wore a “Straight” title for no discernable reason.

It’s not exactly legal, but a lot of places will charge the server for a done and dash.

I waited tables for years. (I was good at it, and even helped train everyone at a new restaurant.) Hourly pay would have definitely lowered my wage, but it’s still better than tipping. It’d be cool to get hourly wage, or even commission, so that your pay isn’t based on people’s whims.

You can fire people for being bad at their jobs. Why do you have bad staff working for you, tips or no? How about: Unattractive people will get paid just as well as traditionally attractive people. Minorities will get paid just as well as whites. Your salary doesn’t hinge on whether you can sneak extra stuff to your tables without your boss finding out or putting up with sexual harassment. Salary means that my paycheck comes from the restaurant and I don’t have to try to balance the interests of the people paying me against the restaurant.

No one has ever gone bankrupt overestimating the racism and sexism of the American people.

Too many factors to say that was the cause, but we can’t rule it out. Remember that Ruby Bridges is 8 years younger than Trump. We are so close to the time when the majority of Americans were openly, proudly, racist, the idea that a significant number of Americans are quietly racist is not far fetched in the least.

One reason it hasn’t been tested is that we didn’t hold primaries this year.

Sure, it’s not (very) illegal to offer the rest of the candidates cabinet positions to drop out, so that you can 1v1 the progressive and prevent the him from winning the way Trump did. But “we’re a private entity and can pick the nominee however we want” will not exactly endear you to your base, or give them very much respect for the primary process.

I assume you mean you have more power if you live in Iowa, New Hampshire or South Carolina. If your state votes after “super Tuesday” things will be pretty decided before you have a chance to weigh in.

As a leftist, I feel pretty unrepresented by the Democrats. “Vote in the primaries then support whoever is the nominee” would feel a lot more palatable if I wasn’t so sure the DNC will do everything they can to prevent a progressive from getting nominated.
