Capitalism is feudalism with a marketing team.

Land/capital shouldn’t be more important than people. Economies are supposed to be lowly tool of a society to maximize the equitable and efficient distribution of goods and services within a society for the benefit of the citizens of said society, not a few thousand sociopath families at most of society’s expense as it is.

Our society (the US in my case, but increasingly the entire west) literally lives in perpetual servitude to one of its broken tools. A catastrophe should have leaders coming out saying they’ll take every measure to protect their people and society, not their fucking economy and it’s quarterly private profit expectations.

I think you could drastically minimize any impact by doing the time travel in space and merely observing from high orbit, assuming your time machine has no form of exhaust, which if you have a time machine seems like a relatively small engineering challenge by comparison.

You might displace a few atoms in the void, but it’s the safest way one could go about it.

I mean, technically displacing the air with that time machine on such a massive time scale is just as likely to result in returning to a civilization of dolphin people as riding a dinosaur would.

I see it as my sacred duty as a peasant to undermine the profit of my workplace wherever safely possible.

When the class war is long lost and one is living under class occupation, guerilla tactics become the only option.

We didn’t set these hostile terms, American employers chose to treat their workforces as disposable liabilities rather than valued partners who all stand to prosper (as many once did prior to the Jack Welch/Reaganomics cultural grift), but we can sure as hell game and undermine them.

Money doesn’t buy happiness.

What it does is eliminate and prevent most causes of human unhappiness, and practically all unhappiness based in meeting basic human needs.

And I’m sorry, but daddy not being proud of you or mommy dying young when you have means doesn’t equate to the misery of rooting through a dumpster out of hunger or having a pig kick you out of an underpass into the rain to die of exposure.

It’s not easy being green.

Not even an impossible task. We just need a President that actually loves what America professes to aspire to. It’s what the Presidential pardon is for.

I feel this always needs to be said. The United States has a lot of slogans and posters about integrity and ethics for a nation that has neither in practice.

That’s why it always confuses me when so many women want to get married for married sake.

This time period is a brief aberration, the institution of marriage, dating back thousands of years before Jesus, has always historically been a property transaction, with the wife being the property exchanged for property/familial status. There are still parts of the world where that is the case.

At least 4,000 years isn’t wiped away in a hundred. Personally, I think a romantic, consenting partnership should have entirely new terminology attached to it. Rehabbing the institution of marriage is like trying to rehab the term enslavement.

Hell marriage is already regressing back to its natural/historical state here in the US, with several states trying to abolish no fault divorce to remove any agency women have won with regards to romantic partnership.

The United States has the most comprehensive social safetynet and system of redress on Earth.

As has happened for all of human history, we have devolved back to the golden rule: those with all the gold make the rules, and surprise surprise, the rules say they can’t lose and you can’t win.
