This isn’t surprising considering how popular the first season was, especially in Japan. The impression I got is that the production side was caught off-guard with its success, which could explain why it has taken a while to organize a season 2 if they weren’t planning on it from the beginning.

Guilty pleasure of mine so I’m glad it’s getting another season, I was afraid they wouldn’t continue it.

This was not what I thought it was going to be when I initially downloaded it. Unfortunately it’s existence is just an example of the stuff that exists within the broader topic of ‘anime’ which hinders wider acceptance. I really wish it existed under its own category somehow; as people point to this any time someone mentions the topic - and it’s embarrassing on a wider scale, as it’s mostly shut-ins and incels which enjoy this kind of thing. The fact that it’s getting a second season is only testament to the growing social problems that exist on a wider scale.

You’re faulting a series for a problem that exists because of assholes.

Every medium has its instances that are provocatice or scatological or otherwise offensive.

The difference with anime is that there’s a group of assholes who base part of their identities on their purported superior taste as evidenced by the fact that they hate anime, and there’s enough of them that they’ve formed a fairly significant circlejerk. And they latch onto things like this to which to point as supposed examples of the medium as a whole, while self-servingly ignoring the other 99.9% of stuff out there.

So yes, in a sense, there is a problem with the fact that things like this exist, but the problem isn’t really simply that they exist, but that there’s a fairly significant group of assholes who can and will dogpile on that fact.

If you want to blame someone or something for the problem, don’t blame the series - blame the assholes.
