It is super thin at 4.21 mm unfolded but seems like they’ve downgraded the cameras quite significantly from last year (all three sensors are smaller, ultrawide is almost useless) which is a shame considering the price is in line with it’s predecessor.
I am loving mine. Had the OnePlus Open before, and I am shocked at how much difference the thinness and larger screens make. It really does feel like a normal flagship slab phone.
By those standards, the speaker is sub-par (but does the job) and the Ultra-wide camera is noticeably weak. The main camera and telephoto camera aren’t going to win awards, but they aren’t the weakest you’d see in even a flagship bracket - they don’t feel cheap, but won’t blow anyone away.
That aside, it’s glorious. Thin, light, fast, powerful, amazing battery life, the smallest crease I’ve ever seen (and you really only see it at off-angles, not in normal use where the screen is facing you). I know the OS isn’t as versatile as on Samsung phones, or as seamless as Pixel phones for those who use all of Googles services, but it is a really smooth, attractive and well-optimised OS with a good range of functionality and I think boundless view/Open Canvas is the best multitasking UI around. I’m happy that I don’t have to use weird workarounds to have circle to search, too!
How much thinner can we get before the USB C port is removed? That’s looking tight since foldable is splitting thickness by 2.
This is such a cool foldable. It does suck that the cameras got downgraded compared to the previous model. But the tradeoffs seem reasonable to me. Props to oppo for this phone. I just wished we got it under the OnePlus open 2 in the states.
