Okay, thanks. I noticed that minimalistic theme seemed to be a trend with the FOSS launchers, shame they’re so text based. Maybe it’s a sign I need to clean up my home screen lol.
Maybe I should just stick with what I have anyway, no need to clutter my phone 😅
Got any good FOSS/F-droid recommendations? I’m on GrapheneOS and used the launcher it came with (literally just launcher) but I’m thinking I might want something a little more “cuter/aesthetic” that can use icon packs. I do like widgets and apps on my screen, so I don’t like search/text-only launchers.
Yup, me and my sister did occasional Pokemon battles/trading and Mario Kart races with each other using the Download Play or whatever it was called. I think even 3DS had it, or something similar to that effect. I just wish I had enough friends who actually played Pokemon back then, cause at my elementary school only one friend had a 3DS and played Pokemon. Everyone else was too busy trying to be “cool” and play GTA and CoD 😮💨
Even YT on browser for both my tablet and laptop have gotten mad at me and thrown a hissy for forcing me to login. Less of a problem on my Laptop, because I use Freetube to watch on there, and on my Phone I use Revanced. But man, I just hate watching on my Kindle now, because that shit is old and can barely run Firefox (got it via aurora store, not even in the Amazon appstore 😭) and YT on browser is ass. I tried NewPipe and it crashed all the time, so I got the for PipePipe cause I’m a weeabo, and it worked well but now I get the blocked IP every other day. My tablet crashed when I tried to download Revanced YT on there, so I gave up.
If on Android, use Seal, a FOSS app that uses yt-dlp and allows you to download the video in a shit ton of format and stuff. Apparently can even embed subtitles and metadata into the files, although I never do that.
Don’t worry, I’m a gen z who can rollerblade but wants to get better and know cool tricks and shit because I love those game OSTs and wanna pretend I’m one of the characters, despite never having played them (maybe one day I’ll bootleg the JSR games). I also wanna learn how to skateboard to em. I’ll skate in your honor.

I’m a baby in the FF fandom, 15 was my first ever FF game, although I do know a decent amount due to my mom being a longtime fan since FF6. I found it funny that the game was advertised as “good for newcomers and old fans” cause all I felt was disappointment about my first ever FF game, while my mom sat there pissed thinking about how she wasted money on a day one edition (that we didn’t open till December 2024, lol)
That game… I wanted to like it, but after hearing about how good the previous FFs are, and just knowing how good other JRPG series are, I can’t believe they flopped so hard like that. Good thing is the other games can’t be worse, so that’s nice.
I’ve been dual-booting for about 2 weeks now, and I’ve been spending so much time in Fedora Silverblue because it’s just so nice. I mean, most of the shit I do is browser stuff, so I have no issues there. Most of the time I can get apps to work, but my only gripe is not being able to use NextDNS alongside Proton VPN like I did on my windows computer 😭. I just don’t know how to get it to work, and idk how to revert my DNS settings in terminal back to default instead of NextDNS.
But like everything else is fine, and I can still do my schoolwork.
I waited like 2, maybe 3 days to get approved for Pixelfed.art back around late Dec/early Jan. Since the spike of TikTok users happened after me, it might be more time. Have patience comrade, you’ll get there 👍
I can finally say that I’m making the move to Linux now, as I’m dual booting Fedora. I plan to try to do my regular browsing and activity on Fedora, while keeping my school work and what little gaming I do (laptop user) on Windows. Hell, once I get confident enough in my Linux skills, I’ll probably move the school stuff over to Fedora too.
I’m doing it mostly cause I’ve read the privacy horror stories, but also because I just hated Windows 11. Like there’s nothing about it that is worth staying for… The excessive resource use, random settings being changed that you have to dig to find, the shitty Co-Pilot ads, and the fact I won’t be able to use office once I graduate… Yeah no.
Good thing is I’m a cyber student, so guess I’m just getting a head start for a easier grade in my future Linux class lol.
Been using YT music Revanced since summer and it’s great. No ads and being able to have my phone off is heaven.
I really don’t get why Spotify people hate YT music and get so elitist about it, it literally has every song to ever exist; if it’s on YouTube, it’s on YT Music. I especially love it cause videogame OSTs are on there and frequently I see people crying “why isn’t it on Spotify?”
